Reduce VOCs and maintain performance levels with Sikkens Autowave MM 2.0 E-Line

With sustainability a key element of AkzoNobel’s business strategy, continuous innovation is resulting in new technologies being added to the Sikkens product portfolio. The latest is the Sikkens Autowave MM 2.0 E-Line – an alternative to Autowave MM 2.0, which emits lower levels of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC).

Sikkens Autowave 2.0 was launched in 2013, setting new standards in waterborne basecoat performance. Major advances in binder and pigment technology resulting in reduced processing times, smoother application, right first-time reliability, and color accuracy.

By making a simple, one-component switch to Autowave MM 2.0 E-Line, bodyshops can now achieve the same great results from their refinishing system but emit 10% fewer VOCs into the atmosphere than those permitted by European Union legislation. Bodyshop VOC emissions for the complete waterborne basecoat application can be reduced from 420 g/l to 380 g/l.

When converting to Autowave MM 2.0 E-Line, bodyshops can be confident in the product performance but with additional benefits.

Bodyshops can combine product performance with lower VOCs says Rob Lagendijk, Commercial Marketing and Product Management Director of AkzoNobel’s Automotive and Specialty Coatings business: “We know that there is an increasing emphasis on environmental sustainability. Bodyshops are searching for ways in which they can reduce their impact and we know product selection plays a key part in this.

“We’re committed to providing a premium refinishing system, and for us the notion of premium is all-encompassing and goes beyond performance,” he explains. “So, we are pleased to be offering a new alternative to a trusted favourite with improved sustainability credentials.”

For bodyshops that are looking for ways to reduce energy usage and lower CO2 levels, Sikkens Autowave MM 2.0 E-Line offers a more sustainable solution.
