AkzoNobel Vehicle Refinish Business Congratulates First Bodyshops to Achieve Sustainability Certification Through its Sustainable Repair Network

05-02-2024

The first three bodyshops to join AkzoNobel’s Sustainable Repair Network have successfully progressed through the first level of the program, and demonstrated further commitment to reducing their carbon footprint.

Boekhorst Autoschade, Pon Dealer Groep, and HTH Automotive Groep – all operating in the Netherlands - received Level 1 certificates and are now official Sustainable Repair Partners of AkzoNobel.

AkzoNobel’s Vehicle Refinishes business launched its Sustainable Repair Network in 2023 to support its customers on their journey to become more sustainable and efficient. The three-level certification framework supports them by first measuring CO2e emissions, then undertaking ongoing monitoring to identify opportunities to reduce energy consumption and cost as well as CO2e emissions, before implementing improvements. These improvements might include changes in equipment, processes, and choice of products, which could reduce waste, reduce energy usage, increase efficiency, and lower cost.

To help the process AkzoNobel has developed dedicated tools including the accoladed CO2eRepairCalculator, a Sustainable Repair Audit, a Bodyshop Energy Scan and a digital solution called Carbon Pulse to easily monitor and track CO2e emission and energy usage and define goals.

Ignacio Román Navarro, Business Director Vehicle Refinishes EMEA of AkzoNobel, says limiting climate change is now a collective priority among all stakeholders including the OEMs, collision repair businesses, and insurance companies: “At AkzoNobel we are partnering with our customers on their sustainability journey, together we look at all the steps of their repair process and their entire bodyshop operation to see where emissions are being created and how we can help to reduce them.”

“I am excited that we certified the first customers from the Netherlands as Sustainable Repair Partners,” states Román Navarro, “congratulations to Boekhorst Autoschade, Pon Dealer Groep and HTH Automotive Groep on joining our Sustainable Repair Network.”

AkzoNobel’s Sustainable Repair Network is an example of how AkzoNobel’s vehicle refinish business is leveraging its leading position in sustainability. It can deliver the tools, knowledge, support, and experience to make a measurable difference to a bodyshop’s’ drive to reduce its own carbon footprint.

AkzoNobel is aiming to reduce carbon emissions by up to 50% across the value chain until 2030 and is actively engaging with its customers and partners to support them on their sustainability journey.
